Well, it’s official. Fall 2018 is finally here. Hurray! And for office furniture designers throughout the world, this time of year is comparable to that of a 5-year-old child waking up on Christmas morning to discover a new bike from Santa. This is an exciting season for those who specialize in office space design. And why is that, you ask? This time of year is when all the paint and color industries release their color choices for the new year. Now, if you’re not working in the office furniture industry and you find yourself surrounded by designers 8 hours a day, you may be wondering how this all affects your daily life?
The reality is colors play a vital role in our everyday actions. How we experience the world around us and how we feel when placed inside an interior space is all affected by color choice. Color can sway thinking, change actions, and cause reactions. For a basic example, think of the color green. In most cases, green triggers the impulse to go, whereas red usually means to stop, right?
According to the Pantone Color Institute, the color of the year represents “a color snapshot of what we see taking place in our global culture that serves as an expression of a mood and an attitude.”
With that concept in mind, I’d like to announce the release of the Sherwin Williams color of 2019. Wait for it… Cavern Clay (SW 7701).
Sherwin Williams defines this color as “Ancient, yet fully alive. Bohemian, yet totally refined.” This color is said to bring new life to any office space correlating with natural finishes that are currently trending in resimercial design. Exposed wood floors, leather upholstery, and rustic metals all complement Cavern Clay beautifully.
