Who doesn’t love the festivities of Halloween at the office? Pumpkins and fall décor spruce up office cubicles, and skeletons and cobwebs hang from office partitions. And of course, you can’t forget about the candy that litters everyone’s desk (especially at OstermanCron) this time of year.
Although this atmosphere is what we all love about the holiday, we thought we’d get a little more in the spirit and share some of the spookiest real life haunted places in America. Here’s the catch- office furniture is involved in each of these haunted locations. C’mon, would you expect any less from an office furniture store like us? Here are a couple of stories that we came across:
Rumor has it that in the 19th century at the Mississippi State Capitol, a man died of a heart attack at his office desk. To this day, employees report occasionally seeing the man drifting through the office (still in the same work clothes) and hearing unexplained footsteps following them around.
At the northern end of Capital Memorial Cemetery in Pflugerville, TX, stands a red brick building that is now a warehouse for office furniture. The spacious building was once a corporate location but 60 years ago, the company abruptly made the office move as workers were uncomfortable with the daily amount of paranormal activity they experienced. To this day people are still wary to enter the building , as there is an undeniably creepy presence.
To start off, this final office building’s number is 666 and every employee there would agree that it’s no coincidence. Although there are no leaks or faults in their water system, large puddles of water are inexplicably found and office chairs are constantly moved overnight. The space has an eerie presence that has drove countless employees to quit.
Whether you believe these haunted tales or not, it’s always entertaining to read them now and then. On a much more cheerful note, always feel free to stop in our un-haunted showroom.
