Categorized as those from the ages of 18-34, Millennials have finally graduated from school desks and have found themselves cozied up in office cubicles, even in management roles. So now that Millennials are in charge, there are a few rather interesting things to expect of the workplace in the future.
Although this doesn’t have anything to do with the recent election, the millennial generation is in strong favor of collaboration and voting on issues. Therefore, it’s less about one person making decisions and more about feedback from the majority. As a result, expect more open office designs that encourage transparency including modern offices designs that look like this.
Taking an approach to flatten the corporate hierarchy, the millennial generation believes less in a professional title and more in the work ethic each employee offers. Expect a flatter organizational structure in the future and more leadership amongst all parties involved. As there won’t be as many “manager” roles and “project leaders”, expect to see less private office furniture designs and more modular furniture touchdowns for all employees to use flexibly.
Employees are spending less time at their office desk and more time at conference tables, break rooms, and quiet spaces to work remotely. Less room is needed for each person’s workspace. This means smaller office furniture dimensions may be a piece of the future workplace.
