Be prepared, 2016 is the year millennials will be graduating from student school desks and popping up in an office cubicle near you. Grads are looking for jobs and companies are trying to find out how to snag the top talent. Well, look no further!
A recent study from CareerBuilder polled college graduates currently on the search for a job. The survey asked graduates what exactly it is they’re looking for in a future employer – ranking in at #1 is, unsurprisingly, salary. For the many grads climbing their own tedious mountain of loans, this answer isn’t exactly a bombshell. Surprisingly though, here’s what hit at #2: over half of the graduates surveyed want to work for a company that’s established and growing.
Millennials will undoubtedly do their Google research to learn more about a company, but allowing graduates to step into a company’s workplace and experience its culture first hand is the best way for a business to make an impression. When it comes to an employer’s brand, workplace appearance communicates not only the company’s level of success, but also displays its concern for employee happiness. Therefore, office furniture design is more important than ever in 2016.
Looking into another recent study from Forbes, a high percentage of respondents preferred offices with a “campus feel”. Not saying businesses should hoist college furniture into your office design, but post grads find open office environments appealing and welcoming – similar to the friendly college campuses they came from.
While companies are expected to drop some dough in 2016 on workplace transformations, the results of recruitment may show that it’s a price they’re certainly willing to pay.
