For as long as I can remember, doctor appointments have always gone the same way. You enter a huge building that looks outdated, check-in with the receptionist behind a wall with a little transaction counter window, and take your uncomfortable seat in the waiting room for a significant amount of your day. When you eventually get called in to see the doctor, you enter a hallway behind the door which appears to be a very uncomfortable, cold and sterile environment.
Well, get ready for a whole new feel in 2018! The healthcare furniture industry is pushing the boundaries by embedding principles of adaptability, flexibility and mobility. Kimball specifically adapted three of their lines to coordinate along with these three principles for the healthcare industry.
The first line Kimball has adapted is Alterna. This line supports an entire medical facility because it is a line of modular casework. The options are limitless with Alterna as it is suited to fit the needs of spaces like lounge/waiting, registration, nurse’s stations, cafes, and patient rooms. Visit Kimball’s website to learn more about Alterna.
Wilder is the second line that has been adapted to work seamlessly in the healthcare industry. This is a line of comfortable lounge and guest seating, perfect for any waiting room area.
Lastly, Pairings has created a Pairings Health line to create a more adaptable, comfortable and productive space for waiting and huddle areas. Pairings allows for privacy where needed and even allows for power to be added for changing all must have electronics.
These are only three of the many options healthcare furniture designs available. I am sure we will be seeing some amazing healthcare design remodels in the near future!
