An important pillar of the OstermanCron WeBOC program is Outreach. We all know it feels good to do something nice for someone else. But did you know there’s science behind that feel-good emotion? According to a Medical News Today newsletter, giving to others “activates an area of the brain linked with contentment and the reward cycle.” That feeling of contentment is a big piece of the well-being puzzle, and therefore a vital part of the OC WeBOC Program.
As a company, we provide opportunities to give-back, such as assembling literacy kits for Cincinnati Children’s Hospital or helping with the OGB backpack giveaway. We also encourage individuals to get involved with organizations that are personally meaningful. To help make time for volunteer activities OC offers paid VTO (Volunteer Time Off) each year. Of course, employees will also earn WeBOC points for service work, which can add up to a catered lunch, gift cards or more PTO.
So, you see, the Outreach component of the OstermanCron WeBOC program is truly a win-win. The act of giving our time, talents, or riches to others provides feelings of contentment for us at OC, and a sense of security and gratitude for those we serve.
