“What is the best office accessory,” you ask? I might be partial, but I would say “a dog.” Do the pillows and vases greet you with a wagging tail and bark of excitement as you arrive? I don’t think so. Are they willing to share your snacks and let you scratch them? I don’t think so. Do they look at you with these loving eyes (see photo)? I don’t think so.
I am sure that one of the things people miss when they are at work are their pets. While I believe this applies to all pets, I really believe that dogs are high on the list. Many people have been working from home this past year and have formed a new routine which might include a daily break for a walk with their dog. I think having an office dog might fill this gap for people. It might motivate people to get up and move, which we all know is important to all of us! For the short time my mom worked from home we walked every day at lunch. Some days it seemed like she forgot that is what we do, so I was good about reminding her. Does a ping pong paddle remind you that you need to get up and play a quick game? I don’t think so.
Also, if you have clients that come to your office, having a dog can add a feeling of warmth and happiness. Can’t we all use a little more happiness in our lives? Woof!
Until next time-
Piper
