The month of July is a great time to reflect and celebrate this great country we live in. When recollecting on where it all began, here’s what I have realized: our country has exponentially grown. Much accredited to the years of introducing our new ideas and products, these innovations have come to make us who we are today.
Having almost 30 years of experience in interior design, it’s so evident that the office furniture industry has done much of the same thing as it has continued to grow and expand. Office functions have rapidly changed, and new ideas in office furniture have helped us adapt to the ever-growing age of technology. Office chairs have also developed, as they have far more functions and are taking on supportive ergonomic features.
The way I create an office design today is completely different than how it used to be. I’ve noticed a shift of office designs to openness – we have gone from office desks with no walls to office cubicles with walls, to benching with minimal walls. Office partitions are coming down and, due to the advancements of the digital age as less paper is used, we need less storage. This is all where Kimball Office comes in and helps to spur new workstation storage ideas.
DIRTT Modular Wall Systems has also completely changed how we build walls today. Instead of drywall, we can have an interactive wall with built in technology and even plants with a DIRTT living wall. Here’s the best part – if you decide to move years later, you can simply take these walls with you. What a great way to be green and reuse!
My last takeaway from working in the office furniture industry over these years is how the healthcare environment has been evolving just as quickly. There are more options today, from the waiting area to the patient rooms and everything in between. Even the DIRTT Modular Wall System can be incorporated in healthcare environments as well.
Now is a great time to see new ideas and new ways to work – where will it all go? Who knows, but I can’t wait to see what’s next. Follow along with our Cincinnati office furniture company as we catch the latest trends and help your office design support your processes, employees, and productivity!
