WeBOC – Professional Growth and Development

Many factors contribute to a sense of professional well-being.  Some of these include how an employee feels about their co-workers, whether they feel competent in their position, and if that person has a sense that their job matters and contributes to the good of society.

In the Professional Growth and Development portion of the OstermanCron WeBOC program, we strive to address all three of these important factors and more.  Here are a few recent examples of how we make that happen.

  1. Our accountant Brandon led a group discussion on budgeting in September since that’s his area of interest and expertise. Brandon received three points for preparing a presentation and sharing his knowledge. Those attending were awarded one point, along with receiving plenty of practical budgeting ideas and sharing time with co-workers.
  2. Because it’s important to feel competent in your position, an employee may earn WeBOC points by watching webinars or podcasts relating to their role. For instance, the Mental Health in the Workplace webinar by the Cincinnati Business Courier appealed to me as the Wellness Director.  I was awarded one point for watching the webinar and learning important information relating to my professional position.
  3. Finally, we take time at our staff meetings to highlight completed jobs so employees can see how their “behind-the-scenes” efforts resulted in a beautiful and efficient workplace. Research consistently shows that a dynamic and attractive workspace design leads to a less stressful and more productive atmosphere. Our OstermanCron employees have the satisfaction of creating that outstanding space for others.

These are just a few of the many ways that employees can engage in Professional Growth and Development.  Employees can also earn points for attending a networking event, reading a relevant or inspiring book and sharing their takeaways at a staff meeting, or attending an industry-related CEU.  We place a high priority on professional growth and development within our program, as employee growth is one of the core values our company was founded upon.

When Professional Growth and Development are combined with our other pillars of Fun, Wellness, and Outreach, the WeBOC program creates a strong basis for employee well-being—in and out—of the office.
