Wow! Can you believe that there are only a couple months left in 2017? The year has flown by fast. At the beginning of this year, we here at OstermanCron decided that it would be ideal for our team to focus on health and nutrition. With the expertise of Carol Cron, we put together a Health and Wellness Committee that arranged a few physical challenges to keep fellow co-workers engaged, healthy, and well…put together. Below are some of the highlights from these challenges!
We started the year off with a light water challenge to stay hydrated and mentally sharp. The challenge was to drink the recommended eight 8 oz. glasses of water each day. This task was simple compared to what was suggested for our next challenge: Planking. That’s right! We got down on our arms and knees and planked, our humble Leader Keith Cron included! This company-wide midday plank helped combat that 2:30 PM feeling we all get as the day drags on. On day one of this challenge, we began with an easy 15-second plank that escalated to 5 minutes by day 30. Of course, our receptionist/accountant associate/office superhero, Kyle, doubled that time! We are still in awe.
After that difficult month-long challenge, the Health and Wellness Committee decided it would be best to take the next challenge in stride. Whether it’s from the copier back to our desk and back to the copier again, walking is something that we do daily. Yet, scheduling any time out of a busy workday to take an actual walk could be a challenge in itself! For the past several weeks, we have been pushing ourselves to get one walk in daily and keeping track of our goal on a visual board in our training room.
Understanding the need to focus on our health and caring for the health and wellbeing of our coworkers has become an important part of our culture at Ostermancron. I can’t wait to see what the next challenge will be!
