Keeping up with the most recent trends is part of our society as we know it today. As the saying goes, “if you’re not in, you’re out.” This is the reason we here at OstermanCron always try and keep up with trends including everything from what brand of shoe to purchase to what color is “in” this year. Usually, we determine what colors may be popular in any particular year by using Pantone. Each year, Pantone picks a color of the year and whether you realize it or not, society tends to fall in line with these color trends.
This year, Pantone released their color of the year as Greenery, the color of new beginnings. Leatrice Eiseman, Executive Director of the Pantone Color Institute said, “Greenery bursts forth in 2017 to provide us with the reassurance we yearn for amid a tumultuous social and political environment. Satisfying our growing desire to rejuvenate and revitalize, greenery symbolizes the reconnection we seek with nature, one another and a larger purpose.”
Once the color of the year is chosen, Pantone releases accent color combinations to show how greenery should be used and how it coordinates well with previous year’s colors. With summer rolling around, the trend is towards bright, bold, and vibrant colors because summertime is when people tend to unleash their creativity and are fully ready for that new beginning.
The color of the year is not only relevant in clothes, shoes, and your everyday purchases, but in the office furniture industry as well. Our office design team sees these bright vibrant colors, such as greenery, pop up everywhere in our furniture design projects from new fabrics and upholstery to colorful plastic stalking chairs like Kimball Offices Poly collection. The key with the color of the year is knowing that it is a color that will trend for a significant period of time after the year has passed because it has now become a staple color in everyone’s life.
