WeBOC – Professional Growth and Development

Many factors contribute to a sense of professional well-being.  Some of these include how an employee feels about their co-workers, whether they feel competent in their position, and whether they have a sense that their job matters and contributes to the good of society.

In the Professional Growth and Development portion of the OstermanCron WeBOC program, we strive to address all three of these important factors and more. Here are a few recent examples of how we make that happen.

  1. Our Controller, Brandon, led a group discussion on budgeting since it’s his area of interest and expertise. Brandon received three points for preparing a presentation and sharing his knowledge. Those attending received one point and plenty of practical budgeting tips, all while spending time with co-workers.
  2. Because it’s important to feel competent in your position, an employee may earn WeBOC points by attending workshops, watching webinars, or listening to podcasts relating to their role. For instance, the Mental Health in the Workplace webinar by the Cincinnati Business Courier appealed to me as the Wellness Director. I was awarded one point for watching the webinar and learning important information relating to my professional position.
  3. Research consistently shows that a dynamic, attractive workspace design leads to a less stressful, more productive atmosphere. So every day, our employees work with our clients to create a space that reflects their needs and values, designing with intention to support people in their everyday lives. To highlight this, we take time during staff meetings to spotlight completed projects so employees can see how their hard work has resulted in a beautiful, efficient workplace.

These are just a few of the many ways that employees can engage in Professional Growth and Development. Employees can also earn points for attending a networking event, reading a relevant or inspiring book, sharing their takeaways at a staff meeting, or attending an industry-related CEU. We place a high priority on professional growth and development within our program, as employee growth is one of the core values on which our company was founded.

By combining Professional Growth & Development with our other pillars—Fun, Wellness, and Outreach—the WeBOC program creates a strong foundation for employee well-being both in and out of the office.
